We Will One Day - by Chris Pridmore
Updated: Jul 29, 2020
I had another walk along the path with the truth we will all one day face.
On Friday, through the course of my "day job" in Lab Diagnostics and Life Sciences recruiting, I was able to reconnect with Whitney (a former colleague of mine from Johnson & Johnson). It was a great conversation and humbling to be able to be in a role that would help her with the next stage of her career. It was such joy to reconnect with her about her goals for her family and to have a chance to answer the questions she had about my story. She was "choked" up a little about my life and said "Chris your story is powerful." I was encouraged by her and so thankful for the conversation.
Last night I received a text from our mutual friend in St. Louis and another mutual friend in Chicago that on Friday Whitney went to bed and Saturday morning never woke up. At 47 years old, having lived a healthy life, Whitney passed away in her sleep of a stroke.
I am challenged and sad today as I reflect on the conversation with Whitney at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 24, 2020.
How am I living today?
Is my purpose my focus?
I have no assurances for tomorrow. I have assurances that I made promises that I will keep today. I will live by them. Today will matter.
